I'm not sure how this will effect Wyoming, but there is a vote by the FCC next week whether to extend the transition date past February 17th like it is now.
I for one would like to see the stations just take their course and if the consumer hasn't realized it yet, its really their fault. They have been talking about this transition since 2005 or earlier so I'm guessing a majority of us stuck with over the air televisions know its coming.
DTV had (has) a better advertisement than HD radio. In this case, it make sense to change TV to digital. Radio is a different medium and has a long history of working and sounding great. There really is no good enough reason to transition to HD radio...yet.

I agree with you on that. If people don't know about it then it's their fault as it's been advertised and tested on TV often enough!
The only thing I hear the Government have screwed up, is the $40 rebates which many people didn't receive and have now expired.

I heard they went overbudget on those too. I didn't seem to have any problems receiving my two coupons (twice). Since I moved, I was able to apply for more coupons, and I'm giving them to a user on the Utah radio forum. Hopefully he gets a more updated box then what I have (its nearly 7 months old).
I love digital television and think this should have happened awhile ago when the technology was good enough. Shutting down HD radio would be a start for radio.
The thing I'd love to see is a little thing you can add to your radio that simply tells you the callsign and maybe a little bit more information of the station you are listening to, and not fuzzing up the dial with HD crap.

Well it's happened. The Senate has tonight voted to delay the digital switchover until June 12th, believing that most people are not ready for the conversion yet.
No surprise really after President Obama backed it's delay. Let's hope they stick to the scheduled date this time!

So what happens to these advertisements that still say February 17. Ugh. This sucks. I didn't want to wait longer, I'm already prepared!

I guess they will have to pull those adverts quickly now as they are out of date!
In the UK they are also switching off analogue TV but doing it one region at a time starting last year and finishing in 2012. Do you think a gradual roll out would have been a better option here?

The senate passed the delay but the house denied it. That means the transition goes on as planned.

Ok that makes sense! I was watching Fox 13 and KSL 5 earlier and they were both running inserts about the upcoming switchover. Once it's done, I'll get a converter box and report if anything can be picked up OTA in Kemmerer.

You probably can get one now if you want. I have had one for several months and already get about 25 digital channels. Analog I get about the same number but their signals are hit and miss.

I just checked on www.antennaweb.org and a search result says that no digital stations will be available for Kemmerer but it also states this for Evanston too so I'm not convinced of its accuracy. That said, it's not really an urgency for me to get a converter box as I do get the SLC locals through dish network but its still interesting to see the impact it will have in small rural areas where satellite and cable are not an option.

I think they are wrong. You'll get fringe coverage from KGWR and of course Wyoming's PBS. I checked the FCC and it looks like you (should) already get a local PBS affiliate broadcasting from the same peak KAOX comes from (northeast of town). That being said, as far as Evanston, they'll get a local PBS affiliate from Utah (KUED) AND PBS from Wyoming. If I were you, I'd stick with Dish.

Well tomorrow is finally the digital switchover day. I wonder how many people in rural areas are really prepared for this? I expect there will be hundreds of thousands left with fuzzy or blue screens than the government have anticipated; firstly because of the limited signal coverage and secondly, because they still don't understand the digital thing.
