Just a heads up, the new Regional Mexican radio station KMRZ is on the air. I know this message is dated, but the station is on air and is operating fine. It signed on during the summer of 2008, but was known at that time as KKWY, which some of you might recognize as the call letters of another Wyoming station.

Yup I remember KKWY at 1630 in Cheyenne. Back when they first came on and were doing country. They were even broadcasting in beautiful AM Stereo at the time! Then the stereo died and they didn't fix it. Then they sold and it became another spanish station. Heard KMRZ when I was in Rock Springs last week. Man with all the formats out there it makes a guy wonder why they chose regional mexican. Sure seems like there could have been something else but then again this is Rock Springs Wyoming. In a blue-collar market like that I guess you only really have 2 kinds of music tastes......country and rock. And the market has 2 each of those. Plus a hot AC for the younger crowd, an oldies station for the older crown, and NPR (Univ of Wyoming) for the yuppies. Not sure what else would work in that market. I guess there ARE a lot of hispanics there now, especially with the boom going on.
