All is fixed as of this post but for nearly 4 hours this morning/afternoon the following stations were off air.
KFRZ 92.1
KZWB 97.9
K290BJ 105.9 FM (translator of 97.9 - struggled to come on then would immediately go off).
As I can see Wilkins Peak from my house, I was able to spot repair crews working on it from here with a pair of binoculars.
For a short period of time these next stations were also off air but were back on with minutes:
KYCS 95.1
K285FG 104.9 (translator of KUGR-AM). All stations listed on this post went off air at approximately 10:45 AM. KYCS and two other translators returned to air within 10-30 minutes.
What do these stations have in common? They are all on Wilkins Peak and all are operated by The Radio Network. A call to the station said that possibly due to last night's lightning show, something on the peak blew or shut off.
At the same time, translator K205FE (88.9) also on Wilkins, was knocked silent as the power on Wilkins was interrupted. K205FE must have backup power, as it managed to stay on, with dead air for a period of about 20 minutes.
I also got word from Wyoming Public Radio that KUWZ 90.5, the NPR affiliate here was off air for much of the evening well into today. They are back on air as well and their HD signal is back on. The HD signal had been off air for nearly half a year. Oddly, KUWZ is NOT located on Wilkins as it once was, but is on nearby Aspen Mountain.
If KUWZ was off, that means there is a possibility that the local WX Radio station KXI34 was off as well since both come from the same tower.
All stations seem to be operating normal (despite the stereo pilot problems from before on 104.9 and 105.9 ) as of this post.
Ah the joys of radio. Makes you wonder how some of these low powered translators go without years of service and still work as they should.
I'll keep you informed if anything comes up.
(Also of note, Green River cable was down this morning. One wonders what other damage the lightning show we experienced last night did).
